Another great day to be on a bike. The Chateau I passed along the route made a perfect backdrop for a nice lunch on the Loire…not my lunch, but I did stop to admire the view of the people eating. <\/p>\n

I got a great campsite in Chinon. Right on the Loire with a great view of the Royal Fortress. <\/p>\n

I stopped in Chinon instead of Rigny-Ussy (as suggested by the Eurovelo organization) because it was the recommended stop in the Rick Steve’s Loire Valley Supplement. The only book I purchased or brought with me on the tour. It also suggested I take the elevator behind the TI to get to the upper Royal Fortress level, which I did. <\/p>\n
Knowing I had many castles coming up in the days ahead I decided to just view this one from the fence line a d save the cost of admission. <\/p>\n

Back at camp I opened a bottle of the local wine and set up for dinner. <\/p>\n
It was nice to have a picnic table at the campsite. And I had the pleasure to share the picnic table with Steve and Denise. Retired school teachers from Wales who have biked toured all over the world. <\/p>\n
